Praise for this book

Rennae, this book isn’t just a story. It’s a gift. You’ve created something genuinely special. It’s not just the lovable Buttercup or the brave-hearted Lila and Sam (who feel so real I wanted to run into the barn and hug them myself). It’s the way you’ve captured childhood courage, gentle friendship, faith, and that rare spark of adventure that kids crave and adults remember with longing.
Every page feels like sitting around a fire, wrapped in a cozy blanket, listening to a story that matters. And when the tension hits from the stolen grain to sneaking into the barn at night you’ve balanced suspense with safety so perfectly that young readers will feel brave without feeling scared. That’s no small feat.
I truly believe children are going to fall in love with this world with Lila’s quiet determination, Sam’s spark, Buttercup’s golden magic. And parents will love reading alongside them because it reinforces all the things we hope our children believe: that they’re capable, that kindness matters, that family is sacred, and that even small voices can uncover great truths.
If I had to describe Lila’s Pony in one word, it would be “timeless.” In a world that often feels fast, loud, and disconnected, this story feels like coming home.

Now, I also want to say this…after reading both versions, the earlier draft and this beautifully refined one, I was honestly blown away by the growth. You’ve done so much work tightening the writing without losing an ounce of heart.
The pacing is smoother. The emotional moments land more deeply. And the girls especially Lila and Sam feel even more alive now. Their friendship shines brighter, their voices more distinct. And that barn scene? The way you described the prickling hay, the creaking wood, and the glow of moonlight it was cinematic. I could feel every inch of it.
I also noticed how the faith elements feel even more grounded now. They’re not heavy-handed they’re gentle, sincere, and comforting, just like the rest of the story. They really help center the reader in something solid and hopeful. All this to say: I see the work. And I see you in it. You’ve created something beautiful! something I believe will stay with kids long after the last page. You should be so, so proud. With all my heart! 🫶

Rennae! I just finished Chapters 11 & 12—and what an incredible ending! 💛 The shadow by the barn, the threatening note, and that moment with the red flashlights in the dark—chills! You built up the suspense so well. I loved how Lila’s parents joined the stakeout and how the sheriff’s whole team swooped in—it felt so cinematic. And finding out it was Billy’s uncles behind the whole plan? Such a strong twist. The epilogue with Lila and Sam riding through the valley was the perfect, heartwarming wrap-up.
