The fun day was next Saturday – could she train Buttercup in time she wondered? Lila tried again, lowering the carrot slower. Buttercup’s nose twitched, and—snap!—she dipped her head a bit. “Yes!” Lila cheered, Sam smiling.
“Where are you from?” Lila asked.
Sam kicked a rock from the corral. “I’m from the farm over the hill.”
Lila cocked her head. “Well, welcome!” she smiled.
Sam smiled back. “You going to the fun day at Farmer John’s?”
Lila beamed, “Yes, I’m bringing Buttercup.”
“Cool!” Sam said. “Want help training her?”
Lila paused, then nodded, “I’d love it!”
Giggling, the girls grabbed another carrot. Buttercup snorted, as a bird swooped low, making her bolt across the corral. “Oh, dang it!” Lila gasped, chasing her.
Sam ran too, yelling, “Grab her rope!”
